Welcome to The Deep River Area
Economic Development in the Deep River Area is enhanced by the extraordinary capabilities of the people that live here. The area is home to Atomic Energy of Canada’s world famous Chalk River Labs (CRL). CRL boasts world-class expertise in physics, metallurgy, chemistry, biology, and engineering,and produces medical radioisotopes that benefit approximately 67,000 people around the world on a daily basis.
 
National Research Council’s Canadian Neutron Beam Centre draws materials research scientists from around the world and Bubble Technologies Inc. has made numerous invaluable contributions to international space and defense programs. The Deep River Science Academy hopes to encourage talented high school science students from across Canada to pursue careers in science by giving them a chance to do real scientific research.
 
The Deep River Area consists of the Towns of Laurentian Hills and Deep River and the Townships of Head Clara and Maria and offers residents and visitors outstanding recreational amenities in a beautiful natural environment. Great beaches, renowned ski trails, and superb fishing, golfing, and sailing present only a few of the many lifestyle opportunities that are available.Clean safe streets, excellent schools and a wide variety of athletic and cultural activities make our area a great place for children. The area is well known for its many talented people in both performing arts and visual arts and is the smallest community in Canada to have its own symphony orchestra.
